Silverware Cases

Silverware cases are a way to store silverware so that it does not get damaged. It keeps your fancy silverware separate from your everyday flatware and other kitchen utensils and keeps it all organized and neat. The difference from a silverware chest or box is that it is not made to last forever. They are usually made from canvas, as opposed to wood, and have a flannel lining instead of a felt or velvet one. They are better used as a way to transport silverware as they have a handle to carry the case around.

A silverware case is very useful for picnics. If you want to use your nice silverware to make your picnic a bit more special, a silverware case is a bit easier to transport than a chest and much lighter. It ensures that your lovely cutlery does not get ruined at the bottom of your picnic bag and that your chest stays in excellent condition. Picnic at Ascot have manufactured an excellent silverware case. It rolls up when all the silverware is inside and keeps it clean and safe. As it is rolled up, there is no room for the cutlery to move around and get damaged.

The cases tend to be made with an extra special ingredient to stop the silverware rusting. The material is treated with powdered silver which catches sulphur in the air which can rust the cutlery. It affects the material instead, although this takes many years to be noticed. Of course, once the material has reached its saturation point it stops working, but this takes a long time. In the meantime, your silverware is still looking great.

The Flatware Organizer Case by Hagerty uses this silversmith’s cloth as dividers between the different types of silverware. The case is made of suede which is excellent for keeping silver shiny. It has eight divisions which are all labelled and so your silverware is kept very organized. They are also removable if you have no need for eight sections in the case. The lid is magnetic so there is little chance of your silverware falling out. There is an extra storage drawer on the bottom for bigger utensils which is coated with blue felt.

Reed and Barton are one of the biggest manufacturers in the silverware industry. They have also designed a case for silverware. The Reed and Barton Modern Hostess Silver Case is made of leatherette material with a protective silversmith’s lining. It has a snap lock closure and has room for up to 80 pieces of silverware. It is probably one of the most attractive designs on the market and definitely one to buy if you aim to impress.

These are all cases which hold many pieces of silver, but it is possible to buy cases which hold six items for one person. If you are holding a dinner party, you might want to buy a couple of these and place them on the table by the dinner plates. All the cases do the same job, which is to keep the silverware clean, rust free and scratch free. The only distinction in silverware cases are the designs.
